Welcome Fellow Network Scientists!

The On-Line School of Network Sciences is your online resource for learning a large variety of Network Technologies and Sciences.  Understanding network sciences is crucial knowledge and skill capacity for anyone that helps build the cloud!

You can find video based learning in many places on the Internet, but what we do here is combine video and instructor led learning with hands-on learning, and that is what makes this online school unique!

Begin by selecting courses by category (simply click on the category above to find courses in that category) or by searching the Available Courses using the Search Courses box.

Creating a user here is free!  We encourage you to do so.

To create an account, click on the Login link (top right) to access the Create New Account form.  To enroll in a course, you must have a user account here.

However, some courses allow Guest Access.  The courses shown with the face icon are open to Guest Access.

All times displayed here are default to US Central Time Zone. You can edit your account settings to adjust.

Enjoy the School!   sonrisa

Earning Badges!

de Andrew Walding -

Did you know that every time you complete a course here at the school, you earn a badge?

Well, if you didn't, you can check it out by doing the following:

  • Hover your pointer on your name at the top right of the screen.
  • From the drop down menu select badges!

You will be taken to a page that displays all your badges!

A second way to view them, is to click on your Dashboard.  You can access the Dashboard from the main menu items or from the dropdown menu when hovering on your name.  In the dashboard default view, your latest badges will be displayed.   Keep in mind you can customize your dashboard, but that is a separate topic.

A third way to see your badges is to view your profile.  You can view your profile from the dropdown menu when hovering on your name, or by just clicking your name in the Online Users block.

Badges are a good way of celebrating achievement and showing progress.

You can save these badges along with badges earned from other institutions.  Hover on your name, then select Preferences > Badges > Backpack settings, a connection can be set up with an external backpack provider such as the badgr.io. Connecting to a backpack lets you display external badges on our site and push badges earned on our site to your backpack. You need to sign up for a backpack service before trying to set up a backpack connection. When you enter your email address in the Backpack Settings page in Moodle, a verification email will be sent to you. You must click on the verification link in the email to activate your Backpack connection. After the backpack connection is successfully established, badges from your backpack can be displayed on your badges page and your profile page. You can select collections of badges from your backpack that you would like to display in your profile.
