All Network Science Students here have unlimited access to this course.  If you are new to broadband or Internet technologies, we hope this course helps you understand where it all began!

This free video based class introduces and provides a reference for the field technician to Fiber Optics and Fiber Termination practices.  Enjoy!

Learn how the basics of SS7 operations, how SS7 is the way 800 numbers work and how calls are processed in today's intelligent network Signal Transfer Points (STP's) and Signal Control Points (SCP's). This tutorial is open to all CellStream Network Science students.

The ability to use Linux is crucial to anyone in networking today.  So much of the network is Linux based - from switches to routers, servers and tools.  There has been a huge migration to Linux and this course is a great way to get started in Linux.  We have previewed a number of Linux courses that are free.  They say - you get what you pay for.  We agree.  That said, we found this one to be one of the best ones that is free.   This is a Step-By-Step course, with a number of videos and exercises along the way.  Some people like this - some people like an all-in-one approach.  If you prefer the all-in-one video approach, you can find that free course here.  That said, it is going to take you some time.  You can't learn this properly in less than an hour.  Plus we have added and will continue to add lab exercises so you can practice what you learn.

The ability to code in Python is crucial to anyone in networking today.  With tasks like network automation, and the move toward Linux in networking, this course is a great way to get started in Python in particular and coding in general.  We have previewed a number of Python courses that are free.  They say - you get what you pay for.  We agree.  That said, we found this one to be the best one that is free.  This course will give you a full introduction into all of the core concepts in python. Follow along with the videos and you'll be a python programmer in no time!

The ability to use Git has become very important in Networking today.  From version control of your own code, scripts or documents to acquiring software, tools, and updates, Git and Git Hub are essential tools.  We have previewed a number of Git courses that are free.  They say - you get what you pay for.  We agree.  That said, we found this one to be the best one that is free.

This reference/course describes what Ansible is and how it can be used for network/datacenter configuration/automation from templates.  Ansible is an open-source IT automation and configuration management platform developed by Red Hat that enables administrators and engineers to automate system provisioning, software deployment, configuration management, and orchestration across many servers and network devices. It uses a simple, human-readable automation language based on YAML (called playbooks) to describe desired system states and operational tasks. Unlike many automation frameworks, Ansible is agentless, meaning it typically communicates with systems over standard protocols such as SSH (for Linux/Unix) or WinRM (for Windows) without requiring software agents on managed devices. This simplicity makes it widely used in DevOps and network automation environments to automate repetitive operational tasks, enforce configuration consistency, and manage large infrastructures efficiently.

Netmiko started in late 2014.  Kirk Byers has been working on an open-source Python library that simplifies SSH management to network devices. The library is based on the Paramiko SSH library and is named Netmiko.  We have previewed a number of Netmiko courses that are free.  They say - you get what you pay for.  We agree.  That said, we found this one to be the best one that is free.

This is a free and open SDN course originally from Georgia Tech.  We have assembled the lectures of the course here for our Network Scientists and added our own quizzes and assignments.  This course introduces software defined networking, an emerging paradigm in computer networking that allows a logically centralized software program to control the behavior of an entire network.

Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) run the world around us. Power plants, offshore oil rigs, trains and other transportation systems, manufacturing plants – these are just a few examples of the critical infrastructure that society depends on.

Each ICS/OT environment is unique and has specialized security requirements. Protecting critical infrastructure becomes more important each day as the frequency of cyber attacks and the number of attackers continues to grow. Nation state adversaries are no longer the only ones targeting these specialized environments.

Today’s attackers include ransomware groups, hacktivists, cyber mercenaries, and more. ICS/OT cyber security can seem complicated and even daunting at first, but it does not have to be. This course will help participants understand the fundamentals of how these environments operate and how to secure such specialized networks.
